  The BA program is designed for students who want a basic education in the use of PC-based office information systems.   The BS program prepares students for all potential career positions in the IS field. These include: Systems Analysis and Design, Computer Networking and Health Care Informatics.

::: Combined Bachelor of Science/Master of Science

  The combined program is available for undergraduate students whose academic performance shows readiness and motivation for graduate study.

Graduate Programs

::: Master of Science

The IS Department offers a MS degree for computer and information systems professionals who wish to further their knowledge and experience in the area of information systems. This program may also be of interest to individuals whose undergraduate academic backgrounds are not in a computer or information systems discipline but who meet the department's admission requirements.

The IS Department also offers an Online MS degree.

::: Doctor of Philosophy

  The IS Department offers the PhD in Information Systems. The PhD program is a research oriented program and is intended for graduate students who desire to make research contributions to the field of Information Systems.

Certificate Program

::: E-government Certificate

Through a partnership between the departments of Public Policy and Information Systems, UMBC's certificate will bring management, policy and technology perspectives to electronic government. The e-government program is well suited for mid-career professionals with either a technical or management background. A mix of core courses and electives allow students to customize their program of study to highlight their interests and complement their experience.
